Beeswax workshop + honey & wine pairing with beekeeper Mia LaRocca
Join us for a beautiful winter’s workshop for a creative study of honey bees, where we make our own tapered beeswax candles and explore the possibilities of pairing honey and wine with beekeeper Mia LaRocca and sommelier Marco Lami.
Mia Frances LaRocca is a beekeeper by practice, based in the Majella National Park of Abruzzo. This winter she invites us to appreciate the alchemy of honey bees through candle making. Beeswax captures sunshine and has the power to render that which is dark, light. We will work with 100% pure beeswax sourced from apiaries in Abruzzo and Fattoria La Bucolica, in Lastra a Signa, not far from Florence. You will leave with a set of hand-dipped taper candles.
While we dip our candles we will guide you deeper into the world of honey bees through a natural wine and honey pairing lesson, followed by a simple, light meal together prepared by cookbook author Emiko Davies.
All skill levels are welcome, all materials are provided.
